How to measure
Measure the width and length of rectangular or square tables, and the diameter of round tables. Add twice your preferred drop to each measurement. A 20–30 cm drop is practical for everyday dining; a longer drop creates a more formal appearance.

Coordinate colour and pattern
Repeat one colour from the room or dinnerware. If the table setting is detailed, choose a calmer cloth; with simple dinnerware, a statement print can become the focal point.
Complete the table
Runners and placemats can be layered with a plain cloth or used alone. Keep the centrepiece low enough for comfortable conversation and leave sufficient space for place settings.
