Suede-like cushion covers are valued for their soft surface and the way they display a print. The product care label must always take priority. Where the label does not state otherwise, the following gentle routine can help protect colour, texture and seams.
Before cleaning
Remove the insert, close the zip and turn the cover inside out. Separate light and dark colours. Test any cleaning product on a hidden area before wider use.
Responding to a fresh stain
Lift excess liquid with a clean pale cloth using a blotting motion. Avoid hard rubbing, which can spread the mark and disturb the surface. Test a very small amount of a fabric-appropriate cleaner first. If the stain is unknown, avoid heat and seek specialist advice.
Machine-washing steps
- Turn the cover inside out and close the zip.
- Wash with similar colours without overloading the drum.
- If permitted, select a low temperature and gentle cycle.
- Use a measured amount of mild, bleach-free detergent.
- Avoid high spin speeds and unnecessarily long cycles.
Some Mouds products recommend a delicate 30°C wash, but always check the care details on the individual item in the cushion cover collection.
Drying the cover
Do not twist the cover. Reshape the seams gently and air-dry in shade. Strong sunlight may affect printed colour. Do not tumble-dry or iron unless the label explicitly permits it, and avoid direct high heat.
Protecting the surface
Once fully dry, a clean, very soft textile brush used lightly in one direction may even the appearance of the nap. Sharp brushes, heavy steam and aggressive chemicals can leave permanent marks.
How often should it be washed?
